Both Stan Collymore of Liverpool and Alan Shearer of Blackburn Rovers were cleared yesterday of making offensive gestures during English FA Premiership matches.
A Nottingham supporter claimed Collymore stuck two fingers up at Forest fans after his cross was deflected by Colin Cooper into his own net last Saturday. But Merseyside police said they were satisfied Collymore was pointing to the back of his shirt in response to chanting.
Shearer was cleared last night by the Crown Prosecution Service of allegations that he made obscene gestures at Middlesbrough fans at Ewood Park after scoring the winner in the Premiership clash on December 16th.
