St Kieran's 2-16 Gort 0-4 St Kieran's of Kilkenny set up a repeat of last year's All-Ireland Colleges final against champions St Coleman's of Fermoy, thanks to an emphatic victory over an outclassed Gort Community School at Boherlahane, Co Tipperay, yesterday.

This semi-final turned into a mere stroll in the sunshine for the Leinster Champions, who had booked their pasage to the decider even before the half time break.

Superior and more skilful in every department, St Kieran's took their scores with conviction to lead by 1-8 to 0-3 at the interval, despite playing against the breeze.

With Maurice Nolan, James Fitzpatrick, Darren O'Neill and Eamon O'Gorman in sparkling form, they insured it was a torrid afternoon for the Gort defence.

St Kieran's never reliquished the lead after cornerforward Nolan and midfielder O'Neill sent over two excellent points in the opening six minutes.

The Galway forwards showed far less composure on the ball and found themselves 6 points behind when O'Gorman forced the ball over the line from a goalmouth scramble after 13 minutes.

Scores from David Kennedy and Kieran Diviney gave Gort a glimmer of hope, but St Kieran's just upped the pace and Gort could only manage one score in the entire second half.

It turned into a rout for the Leinster champions, who added a second goal thanks to an excellent strike from cornerforward Michael Bergin after 43 minutes.

While fullback Gerard Mahon showed great solidity for the losers, their defence buckled under a barrage of pressure and St Kieran's took their scores with the conviction of champions.

St Kiearan's must now have strong hopes of avenging their defeat to the champions in last year's final.
