There was little joy for the Irish contingent at the showpiece of American college golf, the NCAA finals at Hazeltine, Minnesota last weekend.
The best performance came from Ricky Elliott from Portrush. The University of Toledo student finished just outside the top 20 on 12 over par. Michael Hoey (Clemson) and Eamon Brady (East Tennessee) both made the cut due to the performance of their teams but as individuals they suffered, with Brady soaring to 91 on the third day.
At least he got that far. The brutal conditions got to Matt Kuchar who missed the cut after rounds of 83 and 76. Walker Cup panellist Luke Donald (North-western) who beat Eddie Power in the home internationals last year finished as leading individual on four under.
