THE former Nottingham Forest manager, Brian Clough, is seriously ill in a private hospital, according to a newspaper report yesterday.
Clough, who won two European Cups while in charge at Nottingham, was admitted to the clinic suffering from a severe kidney condition after collapsing a week ago, the Sun claimed.
It said Clough is taking drugs as part of his treatment for alcohol related illness and depression. It also claimed he was admitted under the name Brian Gladstone and that staff were sworn to secrecy.
Clough, who also managed Derby County and had brief spells at Brighton and Leeds, retired from football three years ago.
. Nigerian striker Nwankwo Kanu has left hospital in the United States after heart surgery. The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where Kanu had a plastic aortic valve inserted in a four hour operation last month, said he was in good condition and was pursuing a daily rehabilitation programme which could last several months.
. Aston Villa goalkeeper Mark Bosnich will not be charged for his Nazi style salute during a match against Tottenham Hotspur, Scotland Yard said last night.
