Roscommon 0-13 Louth 0-10: LOUTH MISSED their third penalty in three games as Roscommon racked up another victory in Division Three in Drogheda yesterday.
After also missing from the spot in their defeats to Down and Offaly, Louth were left cursing their luck again as Darren Clarke’s effort was well saved by the impressive Roscommon goalkeeper Geoffrey Claffey with just over 10 minutes left on the clock.
The home team were trailing 0-11 to 0-8 at that stage of the game and couldn’t get any closer to their Connacht rivals in the closing stages as Claffey produced two more fine stops from efforts by JP Rooney and John O’Brien.
Roscommon made good use of the wind in the opening 30 minutes as Donal Shine inspired them to a 0-8 to 0-4 lead and though Louth twice closed the gap to two points in the early stages of the second half, two quick points from Shine and Karol Mannion followed by Clarke’s penalty miss, put paid to any hopes of a comeback from the home team.
