Chalmers pays for his honesty

Like the experience of Padraig Harrington at The Belfry last year, awareness for Greg Chalmers came three days after the fact. But whereas Harrington was informed of his infringement, the pain for the left-handed Australian was the product of self-honesty.

During the first round of the Kemper Open, Chalmers inadvertently gave advice to another player in breach of Rule 8-1. It happened on a par three where the caddie of one of his partners peered into Chalmers' bag to see which club he hit.

Though the nosey caddie was perfectly within his rights, Chalmers became so angry with him that he finally blurted out: "six iron." On Sunday, the Australian decided that he had technically broken a rule. So he reported the infringement and was disqualified, forfeiting prize money of $94,000.
