Cavan 0-14 Roscommon 0-6:A CHINK of light remains for Cavan in their hunt for promotion after their resounding victory over a wasteful Roscommon side at Breffni Park yesterday.
Quicker to the breaking ball and using the ball more intelligently, Cavan were in pole position as they went into the dressingroom at half-time ahead by 0-6 to 0-4.
Within seven minutes of the start of the second half, Cavan enjoyed a double-scores lead before Seán Purcell notched the visitors’ opening score of the second half.
The Connacht men were dealt a severe blow in the 44th minute, though, with the red-carding of John Dunning and from there to the death, an air of inevitability hung over proceedings.
Nicholas Walsh was yellow carded on the hour mark but there was to be no Lazarus-like comeback for Roscommon as Cavan proceeded to cross the finishing line pulling up.
