DUBLINER Owen Casey has qualified for next week's Masters on the Malaysian satellite tennis circuit in Kuala Lumpur, with a remarkable record of having played in all three doubles finals of the preceding weeks.

The Dubliner won again on Saturday when he and partner, Austrian George Blumauer, beat last week's final opponents, Andrew Bates (Austria) and Gaurav Natekar (India) 6-4 3-6 6-4.

Scott Barron, Casey's partner in the Atlanta Olympics, is picking up the ATP points on the ITF Cuba-Mexico satellite tour. His singles ranking is at 516 but is seen to be improving.

There was an early off-court casualty at the Carlsberg-sponsored Leinster Senior Open Championships at Templeogue, Dublin, yesterday when the South African number two seed, Tessa Price, a previous winner, retired with a back injury.
