Carruth wants shot at title

Michael Carruth hopes to get a crack at the World Boxing Organisation welterweight title within the next few months

Michael Carruth hopes to get a crack at the World Boxing Organisation welterweight title within the next few months. He expects to be in Hamburg on Saturday night to challenge the winner of the Michael Lowe-Luis Santiago bout for the vacant title.

Carruth has been promised a shot at the title and hopes that it will take place in early summer. Lowe is German and Santiago is Panamian.

At present Carruth has his right hand in plaster. He fractured his thumb in the first round of his fight against Paul Dyer in the London Arena on the recent Steve Collins bill but went on to win the four round bout on points.

Meanwhile, Sammy Storey from Belfast will attempt to regain the British super middleweight title when he meets David Starie in the York Hall in Bethnal Green on April 8th. Storey has held the British title on two separate occasions.
