DISPLAYING some sublime hurling skills St Kieran's Kilkenny romped to a 19 point win over Enniscorthy CBS in this Leinster Colleges Juvenile A Hurling final at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow, yesterday.
In fairness to Enniscorthy the final margin was harsh on them as they were well in the match at half time when trailing by only 0-8 to 1-2.
However, once St Kieran's right full forward Brian Carroll scored the first of his three goals just after the restart, they were on their way to another victory in a competition they have monopolised over the years.
Carroll son of the late Pat Carroll, the Offaly All Ireland hurler of the early 1980s emerged with a personal tally of 3-3 from play. Tommy Walsh,
Paudge Kennedy, Ken Coogan, Michael Connolly, Robert Aylward, Ger Prendergast, Shane Hennessey and Ned Sweeney were also prominent in this fine St Kieran's team effort.
Enniscorthy's best were Diarmuid Fitzpatrick, Adrian Flynn, John O'Connor and Alan Dobbs, who scored both their goals.
There was double misfortune for Enniscorthy in the second half as first they missed from a penalty and then had full forward Robert Byrne sent off.
