RUGBY CUP SEMI-FINAL Blackrock College 34 Clontarf 17BLACKROCK COLLEGE fullback Fionn Carr gave the outstanding performance of the year when he single-handedly took Clontarf apart in the first half of this cup semi-final at Stradbrook yesterday.
He scored three penalties within the first 11 minutes, one hit cleanly from the halfway line, and added two tries before the half hour had ticked by. Carr scored 26 points out of his team's first-half total of 31 against a zero tally for Clontarf.
He might have claimed all the points on the day, plus a hat-trick, but unselfishly passed when 10 metres out to centre Brian Canavan, who gave the pass for David Ronan to score a try on 32 minutes. Carr converted from the touchline.
