Carlow led 0-7 to 1-0 at the end of the first quarter, and while Laois halted the slide with a well-taken second goal from John Brophy, the visitors pulled away again to a 0-15 to 2-3 interval lead.
With wind assistance, Laois showed signs of improvement and the margin was down to three with 15 minutes remaining. Carlow sent over three more points to run out worthy winners.
