Elm Park captain Padraic O Gaora came very close to crowning his year with a major triumph when he partnered Marie Conway to the final of the club's Open Mixed Foursomes, sponsored by Bank of Ireland.
O Gaora and Conway did not win the final, but at least they are getting closer. Having lost in the semi-finals last year, they lost at the 17th in the final this year against Grange one-handicapper Hazel Kavanagh and Tony Morrissey (5, Elm Park).
There were some promising performances during the week from the juniors with Aidan Claffey (5, Elm Park) and 13-year old Kyung Hae Lee (10, Castle) reaching the quarter finals.
Colette Langan and 14-year old Richard Sherry, both from Elm Park, also made the last eight.
