Sergei Rebrov turned down a move to AC Milan in favour of Tottenham after assurances he would not be the last big name arriving at White Hart Lane.
The Stg£11 million Ukraine striker also made a point of personally asking Sol Campbell to commit his future to the club before putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.
Rebrov and Campbell exchanged shirts after playing in England's 2-0 win over Ukraine in Wednesday night's friendly international at Wembley and Rebrov took the opportunity to quiz the centre-half on his future.
"I asked him one question: `Will you stay at Tottenham?' and he said: `For me, yes'," Rebrov revealed after completing his record move from Dynamo Kiev.
Campbell has one year left on his contract at Spurs and the club are confident he will sign a new deal.
Wimbledon have appointed Terry Burton as their manager on a permanent basis. Burton was appointed caretaker-boss following the departure of Egil Olsen on May 1st. But despite the club's relegation he was told after a board meeting yesterday that he had the job permanently.
Olivier Dacourt yesterday insisted he will not cause Leeds any disciplinary problems next season.
The 25-year-old French midfielder checked in at Elland Road after securing a five-year deal following his £7.2 million move from Lens.
"Last season in France I had only four yellow cards in something like 40 games," he said.
"Leeds are a young team and an exciting team and I am ambitious. I am determined to do well."
