Callisoe Bay called the tune to land an eventful John Bull Chase at Wincanton yesterday afternoon in the colours of former Pink Floyd guitarist Roger Waters. But the frustrating Challenger du Luc's run of seconds came to an abrupt end when he ended up on the floor at the fourth last fence when travelling ominously well.
With only Stately Home left standing - his other two rivals Amtrak Express and Trying Again both pulled up - Oliver Sherwood's nine-year-old came home with 10 lengths to spare under Jimmy McCarthy.
Challenger du Luc's rider Tony McCoy bounced back to land the Corscombe Novices' Handicap Chase on Capenwray, whose trainer Jeff King described as "the unluckiest horse I've ever trained".
But in a race that resembled a battlefield with only four of the 16 runners managing to complete the course, Capenwray had luck on his side as he managed to overcome a final fence blunder.
Jockey Gerry Supple was handed a four-day whip ban (January 24th, 26th, 27th and 28) after being found guilty of using his stick with excessive force aboard Welton Arsenal, winner of the Jamboree Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle.
