Niall Cahalane last night failed in his appeal to the Munster Council to have the 12 months suspension imposed upon him by the Cork County Board reduced.

The Munster Council viewed a video of last season's Cork county final in which the Castlehaven player allegedly hit the referee just after the final whistle. They agreed with the Cork County Board's decision. Cahalane will not now be available to his county for the upcoming Munster Championship series. Meanwhile, the Tipperary County Board was fined £300 for incursions onto the field during the recent under-21 football championship clash against Cork.
