Byrne strike a classic

Paul Byrne rescued a point for Bohemians at Dalymount Park last night with an amazing 78th-minute equaliser. Byrne was only on the pitch when he hurled home a cracking 25-yard free kick with his first touch.

It came four minutes after Bohemians' other substitute, Trevor Molloy, was sent off by a reckless tackle on Eric Lavine.

Glen Crowe should have scored twice before, but in the 23rd minute he really could not have missed as he tapped home a Mark Rutherford rebound.

In the 36th minute, Galway staged what looked like being a remarkable comeback until Byrne's late equaliser as a Scott Morgan free kick was missed by the Bohemians defence and Billy Clery ghosted in at the far post behind everyone to head home.
