CAMOGIE ALL-IRELAND SEMI-FINAL: Cork 1-17 Galway 3-11AFTER LOOKING for much of the second half that they would move within an hour of a famous three-in-a-row, Cork had to dig deep to snatch a draw at Nowlan Park on Saturday.
It took two late frees from Síle Burns to set up a replay which will take place next Sunday at a venue that has yet to be determined.
Cork were certainly breathing a sigh of relief afterwards, especially after referee Karl O’Brien had inexplicably declined to award a free to Galway on Cork’s 20-metre line deep in injury-time, when it appeared Therese Maher had been bundled over.
Kinvara’s Veronica Curtin has been donning the maroon jersey for 15 years but remains as sharp as ever and it was her two second-half goals that stunned Cork.
The Rebels showed all their experience though to fashion those two late opportunities for Burns, who brought her tally to nine points from placed balls as a result.
