Bullivant resigns after defeat

Terry Bullivant has resigned as manager of First Division strugglers Reading

Terry Bullivant has resigned as manager of First Division strugglers Reading. His decision comes after the Elm Park club plunged closer to relegation with a 3-0 defeat at Oxford on Tuesday night.

Although they knocked Leeds out of the League Cup earlier in the season, Reading have the worst defensive record in the First Division, having conceded 66 goals, and are currently second from bottom.

Bullivant joined Reading from Barnet in June 1997, when he replaced joint bosses Jimmy Quinn and Mick Gooding. Reading plan to make a further statement within the next 24 hours.
