SEVEN tries without reply give a fair indication of Garryowen's supremacy in a decidedly one sided tie at Dooradoyle. Garryowen were 14-3 ahead within the first quarter of an hour and after that there was never the slightest doubt as to the outcome.

In fact, the winning margin in Garryowen's favour might well have been even greater for Killian Keane missed five of the seven conversion attempts.

Instonians are going through a truly dreadful patch and if they don't improve appreciably on this display even worse could be ahead before the season Is out.

The most gratifying aspect of the game from the Garryowen viewpoint was the impressive display of their new centre Joe Brooks. He wrapped up the scoring with a splendid late try and also had a hand in three others. Dan Larkin again looked far more at home at full back while Jack Clarke on the right wing took his two try scoring opportunities splendidly.

A lively pack, in which the veteran Paddy O'Grady in the second row, Shane Leahy and promising young flanker David Wallace all came through with reputations enhanced, provided the platform.

Leahy and Clarke scored two early tries for Garryowen. Keane converted with fine kicks from near the touchline. Simon Bond kept the Instonians scoreboard ticking over with some accurate place kicking but that was their only means of gathering points.

By half time, further tries by Paul Hogan and Clarke had Garryowen 24-6 in front and the issue effectively decided.
