VISITING Danish side Brondby proved much too strong for Dundalk at Oriel Park last night in a game played before a very disappointing attendance.
The visitors were ahead as early as the eight minute when Ole Puggard cleverly flicked the ball; over the advancing Duadalk goalkeeper John Connolly and Rubben Bagger was in the right spot to finish the ball to the Dundalk net.
The game was as good as over in the 17th minute when the visitors; were awarded a penalty after John Coady brought down Puggard in the box and Ole Bjur coolly stroked the spot kick to the Dundalk net.
The game was hotly enough contested in the first half with some of the tackles by both sides being far from friendly but even this enthusiasm died away in the drab second half.
Dundalk had only one real effort at scoring a long range lob from Joe Gallen which almost caught the Danish goalkeeper Andersen off his line. Brondby added their third two minutes from time when Bagger set up Ebb Sand to score with a good shot which gave Connolly no chance to save.
