THE top French filly, Brilliance, will run in Sunday's Kildangan Stud Irish Oaks after being supplemented yesterday at a cost of Pounds 25,000.

Winner of the Group One Prix Saint Alary and unlucky in running when third in the French Oaks, Brilliance is one of 15 fillies left in the fourth classic of the season.

Aidan O'Brien, who has won the previous three Curragh classics, confirmed yesterday that he will run three fillies in the Oaks in an effort to maintain his classic stranglehold.

"Strawberry Roan, Family Tradition and Shell Ginger are all intended runners. We will decide the riding arrangements on Thursday," O'Brien said yesterday.

John Oxx also has three left in the Oaks, but Chania is more likely to run in a listed Race at Leopardstown on the 19th of this month, leaving John Murtagh to ride the Epsom Oaks sixth, Ebadiyla, with Pat Smullen riding Aliya.

"Ebadiyla put in a good effort at Epsom and was unlucky not to finish nearer. She was inexperienced there and should improve, and the Curragh track could be in her favour," Oxx said. "We would love to race her on soft ground but we will be satisfied with normal good Curragh ground, and if she has improved, she has a very good chance of being in the money," Oxx added.

The Irish Derby failure, Token Gesture, has been left in the Oaks and is described as "a possible runner" by trainer Dermot Weld. "We'll decide in a couple of days, after we see what is left in the race, Weld said. The Rosewell House trainer confirmed, however, that his Cork winner, Absolute Glee, is a definite Oaks runner.

Curragh mananger Brian Kavangh describes the Curragh going as good to firm, but rain is forecast which will please Henry Cecil, who intends running the Ribblesdale Stakes winner, Yashmak.

Fourth to stablemate Reams Of Verse in the Epsom Oaks, Yashmak is the preferred Cecil runner for the Curragh, and the Newmarket trainer said: "The owner, Prince Khaled Abdullah would love to give Yashmak the chance to become a classic winner too."

Cecil, who won the Irish Oaks with Alydaress in 1989 and Dimenuendo 12 months later, has been embroiled in speculation over his partnership with stable jockey Kieren Fallon but insisted yesterday that "Yashmak will be ridden by the stable jockey."

French trainer Jean Lesbordes has left Suez Canal in the race but she is an unlikely runner.
