A winner on the flat at the Curragh in October, but without success in the jumping game since a hurdles victory at Leopardstown in January of last year, Magical Lady made a highly encouraging start to her new career over fences when easily winning the Goodwill Beginners Chase at Thurles yesterday.
Garrett Cotter made all the running to win unchallenged, naturally to the delight of the filly's Curragh-based trainer Dermot Kelly, who nominated the Denny Gold Medal Chase at Leopardstown as her immediate target.
"She looked a class above her opposition today, but I am sure that it will not always be that easy for her," he said.
