Connacht League final/Galway 4-9 NUIG 2-10:IN-FORM Fiachra Breathnach blasted home two goals as Galway picked up their first silverware under Liam Sammon when they captured the Connacht FBD League crown at Pearse Stadium yesterday. Breathnach's opening goal saw Galway open up a 1-2 to 0-1 lead before NUIG hit back with Mark Ronaldson's goal helping them lead 1-6 to 1-3 at the interval.
But Galway got on top after the restart, a goal from Michael Meehan levelled the sides five minutes after the break. Breathnach got his second goal with 14 minutes remaining and Eddie Hoare sealed the issue with Galway's fourth goal. Ronaldson slotted home a late penalty for NUIG.
