Olympiakos 0 Bordeaux 1:BORDEAUX defender Michael Ciani's first-half goal earned a 1-0 win at Olympiakos Piraeus in their Champions League last-16 first-leg match last night.

Ciani rose unchallenged in added time at the end of the first period to head home a Yoann Gourcuff freekick which was enough to put the French club firmly in the driving seat in the tie.

It was one of the few attempts on goal from either side with Olympiakos, who had won their last five Champions League games at home, offering little threat up front. Their best chance came near the end when former English Premier League forwards Matt Derbyshire and Lomana Lua Lua combined but the latter’s shot was tipped around the post.
