VETERAN Celtic goalkeeper, Packie Bonner is poised for a dramatic return to international duty when the Republic of Ireland take on the Czech Republic in Prague on Wednesday, April 24th.

Injuries to Blackburn's Shay Given who made his Republic, debut in last month's 2-0 defeat by Russia Alan Kelly (Sheffield United) and Keith Branagan (Bolton) have left manager Mick McCarthy with few options.

Given, currently on loan to first division leaders Sunderland, has damaged ribs and said "I'm very sore at the moment and it looks, like I'm going to miss out on Prague."

Bonner (36) next month, looks certain to win his 79th cap, even though he has not played a competitive first team game for Celtic since last year's Scottish Cup final victory over Airdrie.

I'm sorry for the rest of the lads. But as a goalkeeper you always have to keep yourself in peak condition and that's exactly how I feel at the minute," said Bonner.

McCarthy, who will name his," squad tomorrow, is still not certain whether Manchester United mid fielder Roy Keane will be available after being red carded in the final minute against the Russians.
