DANOLI, who has made a remarkable recovery from the injury which many felt might end his career, is among the 26 horses entered for the AIG Europe Champion Hurdle, which is due to be run at Leopardstown on January 21st.
The entries are: Atours, Balawhar, Beakstown, Bimsey, Chief's Song, Collier Bay, Danoli, Derrymoyle, Destriero, Final Run, Gambolling Doc, Hotel Minella, Kharasar, Land Afar, Montelado, Oh So Risky, Padashpan, Punting Pete, River North, Clifdon Fog, Shaihar, Absalom's Lady, Be My Hope, Mysilv, Sambara, Elas Image.
The McCain Chase, which was to have been run on the second day of the Leopardstown Christmas meeting, has been added to the card for the Ladbroke Hurdle meeting on Saturday week. Fresh entries must be made by next Saturday.
The Fixtures Committee have plans to stage an extra meeting either this month or in early February because of the great financial loss suffered by the racing industry owing to the cancellation of meetings over Christmas. The IHA have also stated that it will consider the staging of eight race cards when possible.
The Punchestown meeting, postponed from last Saturday, goes ahead this afternoon, and with a Jackpot carry over of over £6,000 and some highly competitive racing, there should be a sizeable crowd.
Most Jackpot punters' idea of a probable banker will be Blazing Spectacle in the Beginners Chase, although the six year old will be having his initial start over fences and has been off the track since winning a hurdle at Galway in August.
A high class performer at his best, he was fourth to Tourist Attraction in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham. Boro Vacation, runner up to Ventana Canyon at Thurles before understandably disappointing when bursting on a later visit to that venue, looks the one with the best prospects of troubling Blazing Spectacle.
Corket's task in the Dunlavin Handicap Hurdle is a formidable one, but he might outstay No When To Run and Ring The Alarm.
