LEINSTER SCHOOLS' JUNIOR CUP Blackrock College 10 King's Hospital 3: TWO TRIES in the last 10 minutes rescued Blackrock from the prospect of a Leinster Junior Cup first-round exit at Donnybrook yesterday.
Led by influential outside centre Ian Fitzpatrick, King’s Hospital led through Josh Dowds’ penalty in first half-injury time.
Dowds missed a number of difficult penalties and only a brilliant tap tackle from Blackrock outhalf Gavin Tynan denied him a try.
When the game entered the final phase Blackrock turned up the heat. Scrumhalf Charlie Rock sent the ball right and substitute Eoin Conlan crossed in the corner. With a minute remaining, Fitzpatrick’s clearing kick was fielded by fullback James O’Neill who slalomed over to seal the win.
