Birmingham have signed Swedish international winger Anders Limpar from Everton until the end of the season in a £100,000 deal.
The former Arsenal player has been tracked by Blues manager Trevor Francis for the past three months and his arrival will boost the club's flagging promotion hopes.
Limpar intends to return to Sweden at the end of the current campaign, but Francis is hoping he can convince the player to consider a longer term future at St Andrews.
Limpar signed in time to be eligible for next weekend's FA Cup fourth round clash with Stockport when he is expected to make his debut.
Francis said: "He is here to the end of the season but if he likes what he sees here perhaps he will then be persuaded to stay longer. We will have to wait and see. At the moment he intends to return to Sweden.
