Having made his name on the hurling fields, one of Wexford's most famous exponents of the game is now hoping to leave his mark on the golfing world. Dave Bernie is the incoming men's captain of Charlesland.

Although Bernie, who won one All-Ireland and four Leinster hurling medals with Wexford, has been a member of Charlesland for only five years, he has already played a major role in the recent redevelopment of the club. His objective for the year is the further upgrading of the course and facilities to rival anywhere else in the country.

One of the highlights of the year will take place on June 29th with the staging of the Niall Quinn Charity Classic. DJ Carey, Babs Keating, Jim Bolger, Paddy Cullen, Sean Purcell, Pat Hartigan, Michael Lyster and Des Cahill have already committed to take part in the event.
