St Kieran's, Kilkenny 3-14 Cistercian Roscrea 1-7Favourites St Kieran's Kilkenny, experienced little difficulty in advancing to the Leinster Colleges hurling semi-finals when in Portlaoise yesterday they overcame a disappointing Cistercian College, Roscrea.
With wind assistance in the opening half the Roscrea side looked a better team. However, they depended a lot on Austin Murphy, their free-taker who accounted for five of his sides six points in the opening half.
At the interval, Cistercian College led 0-6 to 0-5.
Within five minutes of the resumption, St Kieran's added four unanswered points and then in the space of two minutes Michael Bergin added two goals to end the game as a contest.
Peter Downey replied with a goal for the Roscrea side, but, a minute later, Maurice Nolan added Kilkenny's third goal and, from there to the finish, it was all one-way traffic.
