Belvedere College - 15 St Andrews College - 8: St Andrew's College mounted a late revival that tested the fibre of Belvedere College's defence in the first round of the Leinster Schools' Junior Cup at Seapoint yesterday.
Belvedere demonstrated a facility for taking the chances that came their way with touchdowns from prop Nerman Lovit and full back John Conroy, either side of the break, to open up a 15-3 lead.
Outhalf Conor Colclough found his range with a penalty and the conversion of Conroy's try as Belvedere's big forwards made slow, but consistent progress in the tight.
St Andrew's were not deterred and scrumhalf Andrew Balbirnie's first-half penalty and centre Alex Murphy's try brought them to within a converted try of a draw.
