LEINSTER SCHOOLS' JUNIOR CUP Belvedere College 51 Presentation College Bray 10:THERE WILL be far stiffer challenges ahead for Belvedere as they moved seamlessly through to a mouth-watering Leinster Schools' Junior Cup quarter-final against Newbridge College.
Presentation were hit with the loss of three first-team players, most notably their outhalf Conor Byrne, close to match day in this delayed first-round tie at Anglesea Road. There was little anyone could have done given the gulf in standard.
Belvedere rolled out to a 36-3 lead by the break as centre Seán McCullagh, with a hat-trick, and wing Jordan Mulvaney – he poached a pair - went on a free-running rampage.
The Bray boys were full of renewed vigour on the turnover, centre Daire Henderson at the hub of their best moves. His offload sent left wing Gary Tobin in for their only try in the 40th minute. Fullback Sam Kenny converted. It was not so much the start of a comeback as a wake-up call to Belvedere. They rattled off further tries from lock Patrick Foley, fullback Conor Clifford, within a minute of each other and, finally, the sealer by replacement wing Fiachra O’Meara bursting over on the right.
