A point in the closing seconds ensured Castleblayney earned a second replay against Bellaghy in the Ulster Club football championship at Ballinascreen yesterday.
Kieran Tavey's point ensured the Monaghan champions remain in the competition after looking dead and buried in the closing moments.
Castleblayney led at the end of the first half thanks to a penalty from Paraic McDonald, after Peter Duffy was upended in the square. Trailing by two points at half-time, Bellaghy squandered numerous opportunities in the second half, but late scores from John Mulholland and Jude Donnelly took the game into extra time. Castleblayney again assumed control, but Bellaghy fought back and when Gavin Diamond put the Derry champions in front in the final minutes, it looked to be enough.
Despite losing Peter Duffy, who was sent off for a foul on Benny Lee, Castleblayney earned a second replay thanks to Tavey's late point.
