It seems ludicrous to suggest that a 23-year-old has already `been there' but Rory Sheriff (above)was fast tracked for success at an early age. An Ireland under-21 international, he initially played at Blackrock College before moving to Shannon where he won an All-Ireland League medal. He then joined Terenure and this season was made captain, thriving in his new role.
His attitude towards professionalism was once questioned but having completed his academic career, Sheriff concedes that there is nothing more he would cherish at present than a representative contract. At six foot seven inches, Sheriff is an excellent lineout jumper but also contributes around the pitch.
He is hoping that Leinster coach Mike Ruddock will have him in mind when it comes to issuing contracts at the end of the season.
