AN early goal on the break, with Cliff Bailey providing the opening for Stephen Barry to score, gave Newpark the impetus they needed to beat Wesley 3-1 in the Leinster Schools' Senior Hockey Cup semifinal at Ballinteer yesterday.
Wesley equalised after 15 minutes through Andrew Faulkner following a short corner but Barry again showed his finishing skills to make it 2-1 just after the interval. Russell Hill left the issue in no further doubt in putting away his side's third goal in the closing exchanges.
Will Powderly looked the most accomplished player on the day for Newpark, who meet Kilkenny in next Wednesday's final at Grange Road.
