Clonguish (Longford) 2-10 Horsewood (Wexford) 0-5:CLONGUISH CAPTAIN Paul Barden led by example as the Longford champions booked their place in the second round of the Leinster championship with a convincin win over Horeswood.
Barden was in inspirational form, scoring 1-4 and proving instrumental in other scores.
Throughout the field Clonguish were on top in every position as the Wexford side were simply outclassed.
Clonguish eased into a 0-4 to 0-0 lead after eight minutes thanks to points from Paul Barden (two), Collie Clarke and David Barden. Horeswood's only score of the half came in the 11th minute from David Shannon's free.
Two further frees from Clarke, a point from Ciarán Williams and a 45 from Paddy Dowd extended Clonguish's lead to 0-8 to 0-1 at the interval.
The game was truly over as a contest midway through the second half when Clonguish grabbed two goals. Barden struck first in the 40th minute with a fantastic finish from about 30 metres out. Five minutes later Ciarán Williams flicked Joe O'Brien's long ball into the back of the net.
