Offaly 1-27 Laois 0-18:OLLIE BAKER had plenty to smile about after watching his Offaly side record a very comfortable win over Laois at O'Connor Park. Offaly played some very fine hurling but the dismissal of centre half forward Michael McEvoy after 21 minutes for a second yellow card seemed to knock the life out of Laois.
At that stage Offaly were leading 1-6 to 0-6 thanks to James Mulrooney’s goal in the eight minute. With Joe Bergin in great form and Brendan Murphy displaying real accuracy, they ruthlessly punished Laois and went on to lead 1-15 to 0-7 at the break.
However Laois, with Brian Dunne and Willie Hyland impressive, were only outscored by a point, 0-12 to 0-11, after the break.
