The Canadian sprint star, making his first appearance since beating US 200 metres champion Michael Johnson in their 150-metre showdown in Toronto on June 1st, clocked 10.28 seconds, eight hundredths behind the Nigerian.
Ireland's Susan Smith finished fifth in the women's 400 metres hurdles. Smith's time of 55.96 seconds was exactly one second behind the winner, Tatyana Kereshchuk of Ukraine.
