ALMATY, a tremendously fast juvenile who progressed from a Bellewstown maiden to victory in the Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood, makes his seasonal reappearance in the Ballyogan Stakes at Leopardstown this afternoon.
It is a difficult first assignment for the Dancing Dissident colt for he has to concede 10lb to Sunset Reigns who beat him by half a length in a Curragh nursery when receiving only 4lb more. In addition, the other three year old in the field, Slayjay, showed herself to be no slouch when winning her maiden in extremely fast time at Tipperary.
Millyant would appear to be the pick of the two English trained challengers, and performed extremely well when third to Bunty Boo and Petite Fantasy here in September. The Jim Bolger trained Aileacht always runs well here, but it might be the younger horses who dominate the finish, with possibly Almaty, trained by Con Collins, shading it.
Idris, who ran respectably over six furlongs at the Curragh, will be more at home over the longer distance of the Glencairn Stakes. Although he meets I'm Supposin on 1lb worse terms than their handicap ratings, he should be still good enough here.
Via Verbano looked above average when winning her maiden over today's course and distance, and should make a successful step up to listed class by beating Classical Park in the Silver Flash Stakes.
A 20 to 1 chance when runner up to Lady's Dream at the Curragh, Premier Code might still be a reasonably attractive odds in the Milltown Handicap.
At Tralee, Garaiyba, the top weight in the White Sands Hotel Handicap, will be suited by stamina test after finishing a game second to Premier Project.
