ALABANG looks a horse with a future after making it two wins out of two over hurdles in impressive fashion at a wet Newcastle yesterday afternoon.
Peter Niven, deputising for Mark Dwyer, who broke an arm in a fall on Monday, came in for the winning ride when steering Maurice Camacho's five-year-old to an easy success in the Polyflor And Newcastle Flooring Novices' Hurdle.
Niven was able to bide his time as the early leaders weakened and from the second last it was clear that there was only going to be one winner, with Alabang cruising home for a six-lengths verdict over Pentland Squire.
Camacho said: "I feel sorry for Mark Dwyer because he's done the schooling and everything on this horse. Jamie Osborne won on him at Market Rasen because Mark was in Ireland riding Merry Gale."
David Parker gave Kemo Sabo a positive ride to win the Levy Board Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle, making all.
