There were strange goings-on at a recent golf outing at Druids Glen, which no doubt prompted drinks to be bought for everyone. Now to score one hole-in-one during the day is rare enough, but to record two . . . well what are the odds on that.

But that is exactly what happened at a recent Horizon Open Systems/Sun Microsystems Corporate Golf Day held over the magnificent Druids Glen course. One hundred and ten players were playing on the day and the two aces were recorded by Alan Barriscale and John Flynn . . . and at different holes too.

Barriscale, a 14 handicapper who has just joined Ballykistten golf club in Tipperary, holed his six-iron over the water at the 133-yard 17th hole, while Nenagh member John Flynn, an 18 handicapper, aced the 140-yard eighth hole also using a six iron.
