£10.5m in beef tribunal bills

A TOTAL of 21 bills amounting to about £10

A TOTAL of 21 bills amounting to about £10.5 million have been lodged with the Office of the Chief State Solicitor or the Taxing Master arising from the beef tribunal.

Mr Larry Goodman is seeking £3.6 million, Goodman International £3.5 million, Goodman International Export Credit £1.4 million and Laurence Goodman Export Credit £935,000.

The Minister of State for Science and Technology, Mr Pat Rabbitte, and the former Workers' Party TD, Mr Toma's Mac Giolla, are seeking a total of £1.4 million.

The others are Master/Classic Meats, £16,000 V Broderick/C Peyron, £13,000 Imelda Murray, Dalteena Traders and Angela McGee AIBP Cloghran, £9,000 each Godson, Sunday Tribune, M Sargent, Sean Sheelan/Kevin J McDonald and Continental Beef Packers Ltd, £6,000 each CH Foods Ltd, £5,000 J O'Callaghan, £4,000 Baltinglass Meats Ltd, Purcell Foods and Freshland, £2,000 each Norish plc, £1,000 Dermot Hanley, £600.

The figures were revealed by the Minister for Agriculture, Mr Yates, in a written Dail reply to the Fianna Fail leader, Mr Bertie Ahern, and Mr Ivor Callely (FF, Dublin North Central). He said that 11 of the 21 bills had been referred back to the claimants to present them in a proper format for taxing.
