Wunjo Club brings luxury to the oversized hoodie

Dublin unisex streetwear brand focuses on offering quality clothing at affordable prices

Wunjo is a word from an ancient Rune language, the origins of which are somewhat mysterious. Wunjo Club, meanwhile, is the name of an uber-cool unisex streetwear brand whose promoters like to stay under the radar.

“Let’s just say we’re a team of two young entrepreneurs based in Dublin. Our brand was created to give people the opportunity to access luxury quality streetwear for an affordable price and to allow our customers to find joy in the ordinary,” says one.

They started with an oversized hoodie because, basically, “everyone has one”.

Theirs are 80 per cent cotton and 20 per cent polyester fleece, making them super soft and comfy. If you’re determined to let your products do the talking, it certainly helps that they’re great.

“We saw the opportunity to design a really good quality hoodie. Ours are not fast fashion – they are hoodies that last and last, staying the same after multiple washes,” they said. That includes nice details like aglets that look new after umpteen times through the washing machine.

Hoodies cost €59 and were so successful the duo was able to extend the range to include joggers. They are about to launch a new range for summer including unisex shorts, cropped jumpers and crew necks, all in a fresh new palette.

Many of Wunjo Club's sales are to existing customers, always a good sign. "Our returning customer numbers are crazy," they say. Or get to Skerries on June 13th for its pop-up shop at Goat in the Boat – you might just get to meet the people behind it.

But what does Wunjo actually mean? “Joy and perfection,” they say, gnomically.
