Sir, – More than a month after Kieron Wood (June 10th) slated my “sneering” contribution on the “World Atheist Convention” (June 9th), you have chosen to not publish my epistolatory response that sought to justify the letter that so irked Mr Wood.
In claiming that I do not have “the knowledge to criticise the beliefs of others” because of my interpretation of the “immaculate conception”, Mr Wood fails to realise that, to me, the concept of a virgin birth is no more or less believable than the existence of a supernatural being, both being articles of faith rather than undisputed facts.
It is, however, a fact that Mr Wood has never met me so has not once had an opportunity of explaining the finer points of doctrine, not to mention doing so umpteen times. – Yours, etc,
