Sir, - From time to time you have carried features on the opportunities available to young Irish people to experience life and work in another country through working holiday visa programmes.
New Zealand and Ireland have such a reciprocal programme, which has been operating for a number of years. Up to last year the limited quotas available in each direction were filled very quickly, and many applicants were disappointed.
In mid 2000 the two governments increased the quotas and I am pleased to inform your readers that there are still places available for Irish people in the current New Zealand administrative year, which runs to the end of June. - Yours, etc.,
Alan McCarthy, Honorary Consul-General, New Zealand Consulate-General, Leeson Park, Dublin 6.
