Sir, - Frances Fitzgerald (October 15th) seems to insist that every mother should be entitled to go out to work. She also wants to see a great increase in the extent and quality of the child-care services for all these working mothers.
It strikes me that if all or most of the mothers go out to work, there will have to be a huge increase in the staffing of the childcaring services largely, no doubt, by mothers who have gone out to work. We will then have a classic example of the age-old conception of complete absurdity a community living by taking in each other's washing. Yours, etc., Pakenham Road, Monkstown, Co Dublin.
