Sir, - The Municipal Gallery of Modern Art is presently exhibiting a fine tribute to Oscar Wilde. What surprises me, however, is that a Dublin gallery should introduce this exhibition by stating that Oscar was born in Dublin and graduated from Oxford. No mention of Trinity College.
Furthermore, it states that his native city has no monument to Oscar, so ignoring the fine statue in Merrion Square. I ask what kind of statements are these in Oscar's own birthplace?
Finally, why is our Municipal Gallery asking visitors to contribute to the erection of a monument to Oscar in England? - Yours, etc.,
