Sir, - As a first-time visitor to your amazing city, I feel I must comment on an experience that is for me without parallel. Last Thursday night I was privileged to attend the opening of one of the most remarkable theatrical events in recent memory. The Secret Life of Constance Wilde was a treat for both eye and ear. I cannot remember having been so moved as I was by the three very talented actors involved, so touched by a new play, or so stunned by visual beauty. I might add that in my native New York city and my present home in Toronto, I've been an ardent theatre-goer.
Upon opening The Irish Times next morning, my jaw dropped. If David Nowlan's comments are any reflection of the sophistication and enlightenment of your newspaper, Dublin is in a lot of trouble. - Yours, etc.,
Gloucester Street, Toronto, Canada.
