Where's That?

Sir, Dermot James (December 14th) is partly right. His account of the renaming of Kilgarron as Janeville in honour of one Jane Garrett is correct.

However, Mount Pleasant is an entirely different place, several miles away on the other side of the village of Fenagh. It is a substantial place that once was owned by the Garretts of Janeville or Kilgarron.

The answer to Flann O'Riain's original question is that Kilgarron, Janeville and Mount Pleasant are not one and the same place. - Yours, etc., Cecil Mills,
